Privacy Policy

Confidentiality:

All interactions within the therapeutic setting, including telephone calls, videotelephony/video teleconferencing, and in-person sessions, are strictly confidential. This encompasses all communications with the counselor, appointment notes, session content records, and progress notes. I adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and will not disclose any information without your written permission.

Limits to Confidentiality:

1. Court Order: In certain legal proceedings, a court may issue an order requiring the counselor to testify. In such cases, I may be obligated to provide information as mandated by the court.

2. Child Abuse: If there is knowledge or suspicion of physical or sexual abuse, or neglect of a person under 18 years of age, I am legally required to report this to the appropriate child protection services.

3. Elder Abuse: If there is knowledge or suspicion of abuse or neglect of an elderly or disabled person, I am obligated to file a report with the relevant state agency responsible for addressing elder abuse.

4. Threat of Harm to Others: If there is knowledge or belief that you pose a serious threat of harm to another person, I am obligated to take necessary steps to ensure their safety. This may involve notifying the person you have threatened, contacting the police, or arranging for hospitalization.

5. Risk of Self-Harm: If there is evidence that you are at risk of self-harm and I believe that you are in immediate danger unless protective measures are taken, I may be obligated to seek hospitalization for you or contact family members or other individuals who can provide assistance and support.

6. Consultation: In some cases, I may consult with external professionals to enhance the quality of care provided. During these consultations, no personally identifiable information will be disclosed. Only relevant discussion topics will be shared to ensure optimal assistance. These professionals are also bound by legal and ethical obligations to maintain confidentiality.
